Indian Railways Update: If you also travel by train often, then this news is of use to you. Yes, under the new initiative of the Railways, the waiting time for tickets will soon be reduced significantly. Along with this, you will not be late in getting a confirmed seat. Indian Railways is preparing to update its Passenger Reservation System (PRS) soon. This will increase the speed of booking tickets up to four times the current one. Currently, fewer tickets are booked in a minute, while the new system will be capable of booking more tickets in a minute.

What will be the benefit of the new ticket booking system?

The benefit of this initiative of the Railways will be seen during festivals, holidays and crowded times. At such times, it is very difficult to get tickets. Senior Divisional Commercial Manager Kuldeep Tiri said that the Railways is working in collaboration with the Center for Railway Information Systems (CRIS) to improve this technology. Under this upgrade, the entire infrastructure related to hardware, software, network and safety will be completely changed.

How will the new system work?

The new system will be based on cloud technology, which will not only be faster but will also be more secure and convenient. The existing PRS system was started in the year 2010. It works on old Itanium server and Open VMS. In view of the increasing population and digital traffic, it needs to be upgraded.

What is the new mobile app ‘RailOne’?

To reduce the problem of ticket cancellation, the Railways has reduced the Advance Reservation Period (ARP) from 120 days to 60 days from 1 November 2024. Apart from this, the Railways has also launched a new mobile app called ‘RailOne’. With this app, passengers can book both reserved and unreserved tickets from their mobile itself. Railways has also made a big plan for general category passengers. General coaches have been added to many long distance trains in the year 2024-25. \
