Railways has issued new rules regarding passengers, now if you are caught doing this work in the toilet, you will go to jail with fine.

Smoking in Train: You must have traveled in railways and many times you must have seen some passengers smoking beedis and cigarettes. Even if you smoke in the train toilet, if caught, the Railways can impose a fine and even send you to jail.

Railway New Rules: About 2 crore people travel by trains every day in India. The government has also made strict rules for the safety of such a large number of passengers. Along with fine, a provision for punishment has also been made for those who violate these. Often we see that some people smoke beedis and cigarettes in a moving train, while some people smoke cigarettes while sitting in the toilet of the train. If you have such a habit, leave it soon, because Railways is now taking action against such people by running a campaign.

Under Section 167 of the Indian Railways Act, if a passenger is found smoking beedi or cigarette in the toilet of the train, then fine can be imposed on him. Not only this, in some cases one may even have to face jail. Railways has been running a regular campaign regarding this. In the last one month alone, Railways has taken such action against about 53 thousand people and has also recovered Rs 3.52 crore by imposing fine.

What does the railway rule say?

Although there is no provision of punishment under Section 167 of the Railway Act for smoking beedi or cigarette in the train or in its toilet, but in some cases you can get into legal trouble. For example, some people smoke cigarettes and throw the cigarette butt in the dustbin of the toilet, due to which there have been many incidents of fire. In such a situation, you may have to face legal action and may even have to go to jail.

…then a case will be filed

If you smoke or smoke beedis and cigarettes in the train, which is causing problems to other passengers and you do not agree even after their repeated requests, then the Railway Police can also file a case against you on the complaint. Along with fine, such a passenger may also be sentenced to jail. In the train, fine can be imposed not only for smoking cigarettes and even for lighting matchsticks, because there is a possibility of arson due to this, which can also put the lives of other passengers at risk.

Do not take such items while traveling

Apart from this, Railways has imposed restrictions on carrying some goods while traveling by train. If a passenger carries these prohibited items, he may be fined and sent to jail. Among the prohibited items, carrying gas cylinder, inflammable substance, stove, firecrackers, acid, smelly items, wet skin, leather, grease, any kind of inflammable chemical etc. can lead to a jail term of 6 months to 3 years. Under Section 164, if a passenger is caught carrying these items, a case can be registered.
