Indian Railways has now taken the initiative to prepare the waiting list chart 24 hours in advance, which will provide convenience to the passengers. This will be implemented after a successful trial in Bikaner division.
Indian Railways: There is relief news for crores of passengers traveling by train. Now the passengers stuck in the waiting list will not have to wait till the last moment to know whether their ticket will be confirmed or not. According to sources, Indian Railways has taken a big initiative in this direction under which the chart of waiting ticket will now be prepared not four hours in advance, but a full 24 hours in advance. This new system has been started as an experiment on a train in Bikaner division from June 6. According to railway sources, in the first four days of this change, its effect has been very positive. Passengers have got a lot of convenience and they have got more clarity and time to plan their journey.
Till now the railways used to make the final chart of the waiting list 2.5 to 4 hours before the departure of the train. This gave very little time to the passengers to decide whether they would travel or not. But if the chart is made a day in advance, then the passengers can think of using alternative means like flight, bus or another train. This system will be especially beneficial on those routes where the waiting list is always long, such as trains running from Delhi to Bihar, Uttar Pradesh, Bengal or from UP-Bihar to Mumbai and Gujarat. On these routes, the waiting list often reaches 400 and the ticket comes in “regret” status.
Railways will also get help in better planning
According to the railways, preparing the chart a day in advance will also help in increasing the number of coaches, running clone trains and making additional arrangements for the passengers. When the railways will know in advance how many passengers will travel and how many are in waiting, then it can make its plan accordingly. The railways have also clarified that this new initiative will not make any changes in the existing ticket rules. Tatkal ticket booking and other reservation rules will remain the same as before.
The Railway Minister had received the suggestion in Bikaner
On May 21, Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnav visited Bikaner, where local railway officials suggested to him that the time limit for preparing the chart should be extended. The Railway Minister liked the idea and immediately approved it.
Further expansion will be done on more trains
After successful trial in Bikaner division, the railways is now planning to implement it in other areas of the country as well. Especially on those routes where the waiting list is high and there is a large crowd of passengers. That is, this initiative of the railways will not only make travel planning easier for the passengers, but will also help the railways in managing crowded trains. If this experiment is successful, then in the coming time every passenger will be able to get information at least one day in advance whether his ticket is confirmed or not.
