Ration Card: Big Update! Changed rules for purchasing wheat and rice on ration card, check new rules

Ration Card: Due to the quota of eligible households and Antyodaya ration cards being full, ration cards of 18 thousand families are not being made. The employees engaged in verification of eligible households and Antyodaya ration cards could not find ineligible ones. In view of this, the supply department has now started preparations for unit verification.

Under the Public Distribution System, under Garib Kalyan Anna Yojana, 5 lakh 40 thousand families have eligible households and 65 thousand families have Antyodaya Ration Card. They get free wheat and rice every month through 1789 Kotedars.

Of these, more than one lakh beneficiaries are ineligible, who are taking benefits of the Garib Kalyan Yojana despite being owners of bungalows, cars and houses. The supply department got the verification done for their identity but it was incomplete.

Ration cards of 18 thousand families could not be made

The employees engaged in verification did not report the ineligibility of the ineligible people due to their influence. In such a situation, 18 thousand families who have applied have not been able to get ration cards. Their applications are dumped in the fulfillment department, but the departmental officers are returning them saying that the quota is full.

Preparation for unit verification begins

In view of the non-identification of ineligible people, the supply department has now started preparations for unit verification. In this, the Kotedar will get the thumb impression of all the members in whose name the ration is being collected. In the first month, one member of the household will take the ration, while in the second month the other member will have to take the ration with his thumb.

In this way, every month, new members will take ration one by one by putting their thumb impression. This sequence will continue until all the units are verified. To start this new system of verification, preparations are going on to improve the e-loop machine which will give ration every month only after the thumb impression of the new member.

New ration cards can be made only after the ineligible ones are removed from the list of beneficiaries. The e-pass machine has to be improved for unit verification, after which the Kotdar will give ration to new members every month only after getting their thumb impression.-Krishna Gopal Pandey, District Supply Officer.
