2000 Rupees Note: The giant company has said that from a few days onwards it will stop accepting Rs 2000 notes on cash on delivery basis.
The e-commerce giant has issued an update regarding accepting Rs 2000 notes on cash on delivery. The company has said that after September 19, it will not take cash delivery of Rs 2000 notes. However UPI payment can be done.
This announcement has been made by Amazon Delivery Company. It has written in its FAQ that from September 19, it will stop accepting Rs 2,000 notes as cash for cash on delivery (COD) payments and cashload.
Amazon is currently accepting Rs 2000 notes. However, these notes will not be accepted for any delivery which is scheduled to take place on or after September 19. The company further said that if any goods are delivered from Amazon through third party courier partner, then Rs 2000 notes will be accepted.
When did RBI announce its withdrawal?
The Reserve Bank of India had announced to withdraw the Rs 2000 note on 19 May 2023. However, even after it has been taken out of circulation, the Rs 2000 note can be deposited and exchanged in the bank till September 30. You can exchange Rs 2000 note by going to any bank branch.
How many Rs 2000 notes came to RBI?
According to RBI data, 50 percent of the Rs 2000 notes in circulation were returned to banks within 20 days of the announcement of withdrawal. Meanwhile, Union Minister of State Pankaj Chaudhary had said in reply to a question in the Rajya Sabha on May 25 that Indian banks received Rs 2,000 notes worth Rs 2.72 trillion till June 30 after the Reserve Bank announced their withdrawal on May 19. By July, 76 percent of the notes had been deposited in the bank.
93 percent notes came back
According to the new data released by RBI, by August 31, 2023, 93 percent of the currency of Rs 2000 has been returned to RBI. Only 7 percent are available in the market and are in circulation. RBI said that those who have not yet deposited or exchanged the Rs 2000 note can go to the bank branch and exchange it.
