RC Transfer: Now transfer RC sitting at home, check important documents, offline and online transfer process.

To start the process of RC transfer, first you will need the original Registration Certificate (RC) and Purchase Invoice. Also keep Form 29 (Intimation of transfer by seller) and Form 30 (Application for transfer of registration by new owner) ready. If you have a loan on your vehicle then you will need a No Objection Certificate (NOC) from the bank.

Selling your old vehicle and transferring it to the new owner is a big process. This work requires time and documents. In this article, we have brought some important tips for you, which will be useful in transferring the vehicle registration certificate (RC). Let us know them step-by-step.

Documents required for vehicle transfer

To start the process, first you will need the Original Registration Certificate (RC) and Purchase Invoice. Also, keep Form 29 (Intimation of transfer by the seller) and Form 30 (Application for transfer of registration by the new owner) ready. Don’t forget other documents like valid pollution under control (PUC) certificate, a copy of the insurance policy, address proof of both buyer and seller, PAN cards of both parties and passport size photographs of the buyer.

Offline application process

  • If you have a loan on your vehicle, you will need a No Objection Certificate (NOC) from the bank.
  • Transfers between states may require additional forms.
  • Next, visit the Regional Transport Office (RTO) where your vehicle is registered.
  • Submit all your documents and pay the required fees at the RTO counter.
  • The officials will verify all your documents and vehicle details.

Online Application Process

  • Visit the Parivahan portal and enter your vehicle registration number and click on “Proceed”. Select the “Basic Services” option and enter the last 5 digits of your chassis number, then click “Validate Regn_no/Chasi_no.” Click on.
  • Generate OTP and enter correctly and proceed.
  • Next, select “Transfer of Ownership” and fill the required service details.
  • Update your insurance information, review the fee panel and proceed to pay the fee shown.
  • You may need to upload documents if necessary and take an appointment if applicable.
  • Once done, a receipt will be generated and your application will be sent to the RTO for further processing.
  • Once everything is checked, the RTO will issue a fresh RC with the details of the buyer.
  • The time taken by this process depends on how busy the RTO is.
