Registration renewal: 15 year old trains will not renew from next year! The rule will be applicable from 1 April

Vehicle Registration renewal: On February 1, the government announced a vehicle scrap policy in the budget. It is believed that about 1 crore vehicles will be covered under the scraping policy.

Government departments will not be able to renew the registration of vehicles older than 15 years from April 1, 2022. The Union Road Transport and Highways Ministry has proposed this. If it is finalized, then this system will come into force. The Ministry has issued a notification for amendment of the rules in this regard and has sought views from the stakeholders.

The notification states that once this proposal is approved, this rule will be applicable to all government vehicles… .Center and State Government, Union Territories, Public Undertakings, Municipal Bodies and Autonomous Bodies. The Ministry of Road Transport and Highways tweeted, “From April 1, 2022, government departments will not be able to renew their registration of vehicles older than 15 years. This rule will be applicable to Central, State, Union Territories, Public Undertakings, Municipal Bodies and Autonomous Bodies. ”




Scrap policy was presented in the budget

Earlier in the general budget presented on February 1, the government has announced the vehicle scrapping policy. Under this, it is necessary to undergo fitness test after 20 years of personal vehicle and 15 years of commercial vehicles. The ministry has issued a notification on the draft of the rules on 12 March. Comments, objections and suggestions have been invited from stakeholders on this in 30 days.

1 crore vehicles will be off the road

On 1 February, the government announced a vehicle scrap policy in the budget. It is believed that about 1 crore vehicles will be covered under the scraping policy. Regarding the scrap policy, Road Transport Minister Nitin Gadkari had said that due to this policy, funds of 10 thousand crores will come, as well as employment opportunities will be created for 50 thousand people. Older vehicles emit 10-12 times more pollution than new ones.
