Salary Increased: Workers employed in companies across Noida—located in the Gautam Buddha Nagar district of Uttar Pradesh—have taken to the streets. The laborers have been staging continuous protests, a situation that has, at several locations, escalated into violence. Amidst this unrest, the Yogi-led government of Uttar Pradesh has announced a hike in the workers’ salaries. The revised salary structure is set to come into effect on April 1, 2026. Additionally, the government has stated that it has initiated the process of determining minimum wages through the establishment of a Wage Board.

Responding to the workers’ discontent, the UP government has provided immediate relief regarding minimum wages. The new order will be deemed effective starting April 1, 2026. For unskilled laborers in Ghaziabad and Gautam Buddha Nagar, the monthly salary has been raised from ₹11,313 to ₹13,690. Meanwhile, the salary for semi-skilled laborers has been increased from ₹12,445 to ₹15,059, while that of skilled laborers has been hiked from ₹13,940 to ₹16,868.

The government has also increased the wages of workers in other districts that have municipal corporations. Pursuant to this Act, the state government is required to declare the minimum wage rate twice during every financial year.
