Sapna Choudhary surrenders in Lucknow court, released on interim bail till May 25

Lucknow: Famous dancer Sapna Choudhary, wanted in a case of cancellation of dance program and not refunding the ticket money, surrendered before the court on Tuesday. He also prayed to be released on interim bail. ACJM Shantanu Tyagi ordered the release of accused Sapna Choudhary on conditional interim bail till May 25. Their regular bail application will be heard on the same day.

Sapna Chaudhary reached the court on Tuesday at around 12.30 pm. He submitted a bail application along with surrender. The court ordered them to be taken into judicial custody. Then their bail application was heard. After the arguments of both the sides, the court allowed the conditional interim bail application. Accused Sapna Choudhary was released around five o’clock.

On November 17, 2021, an arrest warrant was issued against Sapna Chaudhary in this case. Whereas earlier Sapna Chaudhary’s discharge application was rejected. On November 23, 2021, Sapna Chaudhary had demanded cancellation of the arrest warrant. The court had rejected her application. Then on December 21, 2021, Sapna Chaudhary’s anticipatory bail application was also rejected by the sessions court.

The court has taken cognizance of the charge sheet: On May 1, 2019, a charge sheet was filed against Sapna Chaudhary in this case for breach of trust and cheating of any person. Whereas on January 20, 2019, a charge sheet was filed against the organizers of the event, Junaid Ahmed, Iwad Ali, Amit Pandey and Ratnakar Upadhyay under sections 406 and 420 of the IPC. The court has taken cognizance of the charge sheet filed against all the other accused including Sapna. Now all the accused including Sapna have to be charged.

Case: On October 13, 2018, there was a program of other artists including Sapna in Smriti Upvan from 3 pm to 10 pm. For which online and offline tickets were sold for three hundred rupees per person. Thousands of ticket holders were present to see this program, but when Sapna Chaudhary did not come till 10 pm, she created a ruckus. After this the money of the ticket holders was also not refunded. On October 14, 2018, the named FIR of this case was lodged by SI Firoz Khan in the police station Ashiana.
