Saturday Bank Holiday: Banks will remain closed in these states on Saturday 12 October

Bank Holiday: Dussehra, also known as Vijayadashami. It is an important festival celebrated by the Hindu community. It symbolizes the victory of good over evil. It is celebrated as a major public holiday in India. This festival is celebrated on the Dashami date of Shukla Paksha of Ashwin month.

The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) has released the list of bank holidays for October 2024. Banks will remain closed for a total of 15 days this month, including festivals like Dussehra and Durga Puja. Banks will be closed on different days on the occasion of Dussehra. In some states, banks will remain closed for four consecutive days, making the festival holidays longer.

The month of October includes major holidays as well as local festivals and election dates of the states. Apart from this, banks will also be closed on all Sundays and second and fourth Saturdays of the month. However, despite the closure of bank branches, internet and digital banking services will remain operational so that customers can use their financial services.

This is the list of bank holidays according to states

October 10: Banks will remain closed on the occasion of Durga Puja/Dussehra (Mahasaptami) in Tripura, Assam, Nagaland, and Bengal.

October 11: Banks will remain closed on account of Maha Ashtami/Mahanavami/Ayudha Puja/Durga Puja (Dussain) in Tripura, Karnataka, Odisha, Tamil Nadu, Assam, Sikkim, Arunachal Pradesh, Manipur, Nagaland, Bengal, Bihar, Jharkhand and Meghalaya.

October 12: Banks will remain closed on account of Dussehra (Mahanavami/Vijayadashami) and second Saturday of the month in all states.

October 13: All banks will remain closed on Sunday.

October 14: Banks will remain closed on account of Durga Puja (Dussain) in Sikkim.

Besides, banks will remain closed in Tripura and Bengal on October 16 on the occasion of Lakshmi Puja, while banks will remain closed in Karnataka, Assam and Himachal Pradesh on October 17 on account of Maharishi Valmiki Jayanti/Kati Bihu.

Banks will remain closed in several states on October 31 on account of Diwali/Kali Puja/Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel Jayanti, while banks will remain open in Tripura, Maharashtra, Uttarakhand, Sikkim, Manipur and Meghalaya.
