The Union Government started the Saubhagya scheme in 2017 to provide electricity to every household in the country. Pradhan Mantri Saubhagya Yojana has been started to provide electricity to the poor families of the country. This scheme is also known as Pradhan Mantri Sahaj Bijli Har Ghar Yojana. Those who are named in the socio-economic census of 2011 are given free electricity connection under this scheme. Those who are not named in this list, they can get electricity connection at a fee of only 500 rupees. You can also pay 500 rupees in 10 easy installments.

How much is the budget of this plan

Under the Saubhagya scheme, in areas where electricity has not yet been reached, the central government will give a solar pack to each house, which will have five LED bulbs and a fan. The government will bear the cost of repairing the battery bank for five years. Camps will be set up in every village for electricity connection. The government has set a budget of Rs 16,320 crore for the Pradhan Mantri Saubhagya Scheme. A provision of government assistance of Rs 12,320 crore has also been made by the government under this scheme. Rs 14,025 crore for rural areas and Rs 50 crore for urban areas.

How to apply

Interested beneficiaries who want to get free electricity connection under this scheme, then they have to apply under this scheme. Applicant’s Aadhar card, PAN card, Voter ID card, mobile number, residence certificate, passport size photo will be required for the application. In Saubhagya scheme, after filling the form of the scheme for electricity connection, one has to apply for electricity connection in the concerned division or sub-division. After verification of your document, it will stamp the power connection release.
