SBI alerted customers

State Bank of India (SBI), the country’s largest public sector bank, has alerted its customers to online UPI scams. SBI warns 44 crore customers through Twitter handle The bank said in a statement to its customers that it would be “alert” if customers received an SMS asking them to debit money to a UPI payment they had not made. Follow these instructions and take care of your money.

Stop the UPI service first if the SMS arrives, otherwise the matter should be reported to the concerned bank, SBI said, adding that it is constantly alerting its customers in view of the growing number of online scams.

Earlier the bank had also warned customers who would take loans and cheat. Messages like paperless loan facility that do not require any documents, people often borrow with the message that you will be given a loan in two minutes. But, it said they would impose huge interest rates.




Policy for discontinuing UPI services

The bank has followed some tips to discontinue UPI services. Customers can opt out of the service by calling the toll free number 1800111109. Or you can call 18004253800/1800112211 through IVR number. You can also send an SMS to 9223008333.
