The country’s largest public sector bank, SBI, has overcome a lot of difficulty for customers. Now SBI account holders will be able to register the nominee sitting at home. Earlier, customers had to go round the bank for this, but now this process has been done online.
Delhi: If you are a customer of SBI and you have not yet registered a nominee in your account, then SBI has given you a big deal. SBI has made the nominee registration process online. This will mean that customers will no longer have to go to the bank.
Every account holder will get the facility
SBI has tweeted and said that there is no need to panic if there is no SBI nominee registration in your account. This work can now be done online at home. Apart from this, this facility is also available in every SBI branch. According to the tweet, if you have a savings or current account (SBI Saving Accounts), fixed or recurring deposit (RD) in the State Bank of India, then the nominee sitting at home can be registered.
How to update nominee through netbanking
If you bank the use of net banking the bank’s website onlinesbi.com. Visit After this, you have to click on Request and Inquiry option. After that many options will open in front of you, from which to choose the option of online nomination. If you have more than one account in SBI, then those details will be revealed. After selecting the right option, the details of the nominee are to be filled. After the process is complete, OTP will come on the registered mobile number. The nominee’s name will be added after the OTP verification.
How to update nominee with SBI app
First you have to login to the YONO LITE SBI app. Clicking on the home button, select the service request option. On clicking on the service request, the option of online nomination has been given on the page which will open. On clicking, select the account details and update the complete information of the nominee. Here, information about relationship with the nominee is also sought. If there is already a nominee and it has to be updated, then the first nominee has to be canceled through the cancellation nomination, after which the complete information of the new nominee will have to be filled.

Meaning of nominee registration
If the account holder dies due to any reason, the nominee has full rights over the amount deposited in that account. Whoever registers as a nominee gets full amount. In the absence of a nominee, the account holder’s money remains in the bank. According to an estimate, crores of rupees are deposited in banks in the name of account holders who have died but due to lack of nominee in their account, the victim’s family is not getting the money.
