Scholarships for Indian students: If you’ve been dreaming of studying abroad but have been put off by high fees and difficult entrance exams, this news is for you. The Russian government has announced significant relief for Indian students for the 2026–27 academic year. Now, there’s the opportunity to pursue higher education in Russia without any entrance exams. The Russian Federation has launched a government scholarship program for Indian students, allowing them to study at universities in various Russian cities.
Colleges in cities like Moscow, St. Petersburg, Kazan, and Vladivostok are included. However, Lomonosov Moscow State University and MGIMO are not part of this program. To apply, students must visit the website education-in-russia.com.
These courses will be covered under the scholarship
More than 27,000 Indian students are currently studying in Russia, making the country a preferred study destination for Indian students. These scholarships cover a wide range of courses, including undergraduate, postgraduate, MPhil, specialist degrees, and training programs. Students can study in various disciplines, including medicine, engineering, pharmacy, management, economics, mathematics, humanities, agriculture, space studies, sports, and the arts. Russia has also clarified that many courses, especially medical ones, will be available in English. This means students will not be required to know Russian initially. A one-year language preparation course is also available for students who wish to learn Russian.
No Entrance Exam for Admission
The most significant feature of this scholarship is that there will be no entrance exam. Students will be selected based on their past academic scores and portfolio. The portfolio may include research papers, letters of recommendation, and certificates from competitions or Olympiads. Students can choose from up to six universities of their choice.
The selection process will be conducted in two stages. In the first stage, applicants will be called for document verification, the deadline for which is January 15th. In the second stage, the Russian Ministry of Education will work with the universities to issue final admission and visa-related documents. Overall, this scholarship is a golden opportunity for Indian students who wish to pursue higher education abroad without entrance exams and at a low cost.
