School Closed: In view of the severe waterlogging and torrential rains, a one-day holiday has been declared for all schools from grades 1 to 8 in Kaushambi and Prayagraj districts today. Prioritizing the weather and the safety of children, Basic Education Officers (BSAs) issued official orders late last night/early morning.

Highlights of the Order

A holiday has been declared for all students in grades 1 to 8. This order applies to all schools, including government-run, aided, private, and CBSE/ICSE schools. District Basic Education Officer Kamalendra Kushwaha in Kaushambi declared a holiday today due to the waterlogging situation.

Alert in Prayagraj: Following the continuous torrential rains in the city and rural areas, the administration has taken precautionary measures and decided to close schools from grades 1 to 8.

Important advice for parents

Note: All parents have been urged to refrain from letting their children leave their homes due to heavy rains and waterlogging. School management has also been instructed to strictly enforce this order.

Several districts from Purvanchal to Western Uttar Pradesh are submerged, disrupting life.

The stormy return of the monsoon in Uttar Pradesh has inundated the entire state. Torrential rains over the past 24-48 hours have created flood-like conditions in dozens of districts. Boats have become impossible to navigate on roads, while homes and shops in low-lying areas are submerged in up to several feet of water. The Meteorological Department has issued an alert for heavy to extremely heavy rainfall in more than 20 districts.

Worsening Situation in These Districts

Prayagraj and Kaushambi: The coastal and low-lying areas of the Sangam city are severely waterlogged. Traffic has come to a standstill due to waterlogging on roads, forcing the closure of schools from grades 1 to 8.

Varanasi and Chandauli: The water level of the Ganges is continuously rising at the ghats. Water has accumulated up to 2 feet of water in the inner streets and main intersections of the city.

Gorakhpur and Basti divisions: Continuous rainfall in the Terai region has caused rivers to overflow. Rural areas have been cut off from main roads.

Lucknow and Kanpur: Water has inundated areas ranging from the posh areas of the capital to the slums of Old Lucknow. Traffic in Kanpur has slowed to a crawl due to flooding on the highway.
