School Closed: Summer holidays declared ahead of time in the schools of this state, don’t know till when the schools will remain closed

Severe heat and heat waves are taking people’s breath away in many states. In West Bengal, the government announced summer holidays ahead of time in schools.

Heat Wave Alert: There is severe heat in many parts of the country. This includes many eastern and south Indian states including West Bengal. In many areas of Bengal the mercury has crossed 42 degrees. The Meteorological Department has issued a heat wave warning in many districts in the next two to three. In view of the dire heat wave situation in many districts, Mamata Banerjee government announced summer holidays in government schools ahead of time. According to the government order, there will be summer holidays in government schools of West Bengal from April 22.

The order issued by the government in West Bengal said, “Keeping in mind the prevailing extreme heat situation, the competent authority has ordered closure of all schools in government schools across the state from April 22, except schools in the hilly areas of Darjeeling and Kalimpong districts. Have decided to take summer vacations earlier. Continue this till further orders.”

Heat wave is increasing in Bengal, mercury near 42 degrees

Some districts of South Bengal are battling heat wave-like conditions and the maximum temperature during the day reached 42.5 degrees Celsius in Panagarh in West Burdwan district, the highest recorded in the state on Wednesday. Day temperatures were recorded above 40 degrees Celsius at many places in the districts including Dum Dum, Midnapore, Bankura, Salt Lake, Canning, Kalikunda, Burdwan, Asansol, Purulia, Jhargram and Balurghat.

On Wednesday, the day temperature in Kolkata city remained around 39.4 degrees Celsius for the second consecutive day, which was at least 3.8 degrees above normal.

India Meteorological Department (IMD) has warned that more districts of South Bengal are likely to be affected by heat wave in the next two to three days. “The summer vacation was scheduled to start from May 5, but in view of the heat wave situation, the decision has been taken earlier,” an official said.
