Holiday in Andhra Pradesh from September 24
Schools and colleges in Andhra Pradesh will remain closed from September 24 to October 2. That is, students will get a holiday of about nine days. However, these holidays will be less in Christian minority institutions and there will be a break of only 6 days from September 27 to October 2.
13 days holiday in Telangana
Students in Telangana are going to get an even longer festival break this time. Schools and colleges will remain closed from September 21 to October 3. That is, students will get a full 13 days holiday. Apart from this, a holiday has also been announced on the occasion of Urs-un-Nabi on September 5. This day is celebrated as the birthday of Prophet Muhammad.
Why is Dussehra celebrated?
Dussehra, also known as Vijayadashami, is one of the major festivals of Hinduism. This festival is celebrated on the Dashami Tithi of the month of Ashwin. This day symbolizes the victory of good over evil, when Lord Rama killed Ravana. This year Dussehra will be celebrated on 2 October 2025 (Thursday).
