School Holidays: In view of the cases of wildlife attacks in Nainital district of Uttarakhand, the district administration has declared a 3-day holiday in Anganwadi and schools up to class 12 in some development blocks.
School Holidays: There’s some important news for school students. While schools in several states, including Haryana and Punjab, are set to reopen after winter vacation on January 19, 2026, school holidays have been declared in Nainital, Uttarakhand, Prayagraj, Uttar Pradesh, and Pune, Maharashtra, due to various reasons. School timings have also been changed in Ranchi, Jharkhand, and Gautam Buddha Nagar, Uttar Pradesh.
Schools closed for three days in these Nainital development blocks.
In view of the wildlife-human conflict situation, District Magistrate Lalit Mohan Raiyal of Nainital district, Uttarakhand, has declared a holiday for schools and Anganwadi centers in the Dhar, Okhalkanda, and Ramgarh development blocks of the district from January 19 to 21, 2026. This holiday will apply to students in classes 1 to 12 in all government, aided, and private schools. The Chief Education Officer, District Program Officer (Child Development), and Block Education Officers have been instructed to ensure strict compliance with the order.
Holiday in Prayagraj until January 20, timings changed in Gautam Buddha Nagar
In view of the Magh Mela in Prayagraj district, Uttar Pradesh, District Magistrate Manish Kumar Verma has ordered all schools (Council/Board/CBSE/ICSE) from classes 1 to 12 to remain closed until January 20. Due to dense fog and severe cold, the Gautam Buddha Nagar district administration has changed school timings. Under this, classes will be conducted in all government, private and schools affiliated to various boards (CBSE, ICSE, IB, UP Board etc.) from 10 am to 3 pm from January 19, 2026, till further orders.
These schools in Pune are closed today.
In view of the international cycling competition “Pune Grand Tour 2026,” Pune District Magistrate Jitendra Dudi has issued orders declaring a one-day holiday (January 19, 2026) for educational institutions located in the areas of Fergusson College, Ganesh Khind, Jangli Maharaj, and surrounding internal roads. This holiday will apply to all Anganwadis, government and private schools, junior and senior colleges, and vocational educational institutions located within the limits of Shivajinagar-Ghole Road, Vishrambagwada-Kasba, Dhole Patil Road, Bhavani Peth, Aundh-Baner, Kothrud-Bavdhan, Sinhagad Road, and Warje-Karvenagar ward offices.
School timings changed in Ranchi too
Manjunath Bhajantri, Deputy Commissioner cum District Magistrate, Ranchi, has issued instructions regarding the change in school timings in the district. An order issued under Section 163 of the Indian Civil Defense Code directs all private and central schools in the district to conduct classes from KG to Grade 6 after 9 a.m. This order will be effective from January 19, 2026 (Monday) to January 24, 2026 (Saturday).
