In light of the persistently severe air pollution and rising AQI in Delhi, the government has suspended offline classes for nursery through grade 5 with immediate effect. Classes will be conducted online until further notice. This order applies to all government, aided, and private schools.
Schools Closed: In light of the deteriorating air quality and severe air pollution in Delhi, the Delhi government has taken a major and important decision. The government has suspended offline classes for students from nursery to grade 5 with immediate effect. These classes will now be conducted exclusively online until further notice.
This order applies equally to all government schools, government-aided schools, and private affiliated schools in Delhi. The government states that this decision has been taken with the health of young children in mind, as children and the elderly are most affected by pollution.
Delhi government’s major decision in light of AQI
Over the past few days, Delhi’s air quality has deteriorated to such an extent that the government has been forced to implement Class 4. The capital’s AQI has consistently remained in the severe category. A thick haze is visible in the morning and night, and visibility has also decreased in many areas.
Delhi is currently grappling with a serious air pollution problem. Several reasons are being cited for this. Vehicle exhaust, emissions from industrial units, dust from construction work, and weather conditions are all contributing to the worsening situation. AAP leader Saurabh Bhardwaj has targeted Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta over the rising pollution.
Classes from nursery to fifth grade will be conducted exclusively online.
The government says the situation is being continuously monitored. As soon as air quality improves, further decisions regarding schools will be made. For now, online classes have been chosen, prioritizing the safety of children.
