Stock Market Holiday 2026: The year 2025 is now in its final stages. Today, Thursday, December 25th, is the stock market’s last trading public holiday of the year. Trading is closed on the National Stock Exchange (NSE) and Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE) for Christmas. There will be no trading in the equity, derivatives, and currency segments.

NSE Holiday List for 2026
The National Stock Exchange has released its holiday calendar for 2026. According to the calendar, the stock market will have a total of 15 holidays in 2026. Additionally, every Saturday and Sunday are weekly holidays, with no trading on these days.
Public holidays in 2026 begin on January 26th. The stock market will be closed on Republic Day. This will be followed by a holiday on March 3rd for Holi. There will be a holiday on March 26th for Sri Ram Navami and on March 31st for Sri Mahavir Jayanti. Trading will be suspended on April 3rd for Good Friday and April 14th for Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar Jayanti.
May 1st will be a holiday for Maharashtra Day. May 28th will be a holiday for Bakrid. September 14th will be a holiday for Ganesh Chaturthi. Normal trading will be suspended on October 2nd due to Mahatma Gandhi Jayanti. There will be holidays for Dussehra on October 20th, Diwali-Balipratipada on November 10th, and Guru Nanak Jayanti on November 24th. There will be no trading on Christmas Day on December 25th, the last major festival of the year.

According to the NSE holiday list, the stock market’s first trading holiday in 2026 will be Republic Day on January 26th. The last trading holiday of the year will be Christmas on December 25th.
