This matter is from Rajasthan. Ram Lal Jat of Rajasthan had applied for recruitment to the post of constable in Rajasthan Police on 25 May 2018. But his application was canceled under Rule 24(4) of the Rajasthan Police Subordinate Services Rules, 1989. He was declared ineligible for this post. In fact, under the criteria and provisions set after the Rajasthan Service Amendment Rules 2001, having more than two children is considered ineligible. Under this rule, those candidates who have more than 2 children after June 1, 2002, will not be considered valid for government jobs. After this, Ram Lal filed a petition in the Rajasthan High Court and started a case against this rule. After which the High Court, while giving its verdict on October 12, 2022, had said that under the rules, the High Court cannot interfere in this matter. After which that petition was rejected.
What did the Supreme Court say in this matter
After which he filed a petition in the Supreme Court. Hearing this case, the bench of Justice Surya Kant, Justice Dipankar Dutta and Justice KV Vishwanathan rejected the petition of petitioner Ram Lal Jat. During this he said that there cannot be any interference in this decision of the High Court. The issued rules will have to be followed at all costs. Through this rule, family planning is to be promoted. Which the court will fully implement. In which there is no scope for any kind of relaxation.
