The stock market opened on the rise, Sensex-Nifty both sprung

Mumbai. The major stock index Sensex gained more than 100 points on Friday due to the rise in Infosys, Reliance Industries and HDFC Bank and continued inflow of foreign funds .




The 30-share BSE Sensex rose 141.75 points or 0.28 percent to 51,673.27, while the NSE Nifty rose 36.50 points or 0.24 percent to 15,209.80. The Sensex was the biggest gainer in Infosys, with Tech Mahindra, HCL Tech, HDFC Bank, TCS and Reliance Industries also doing the most.

On the other hand ITC, ONGC, Bharti Airtel, SBI and IndusInd Bank were in red mark. The Sensex was up 222.13 points or 0.43 percent at 51,531.52 in the previous session and the Nifty closed up 66.80 points or 0.44 percent at 15,173.30. Foreign portfolio investors (FPIs) bought shares worth Rs 944.36 crore on a gross basis on Thursday. Meanwhile, global oil benchmark Brent crude was down 0.62 percent at $ 60.76 a barrel.
