There is no need to go to the center for these four updates in Aadhaar, work will be done sitting at home

Aadhaar: You no longer need to visit any center to update name, date of birth, address and gender in Aadhaar.

We all are aware of the importance of 12 digit Aadhar Number and Aadhar Card. Aadhar card is an identity document. Even a small mistake in this can cause a lot of trouble for you. For any correction in the record, one has to queue in front of the Aadhaar service center.

However, there are four such tasks related to Aadhaar that you do not need to go to the Aadhaar service center to get it settled. You can settle it online sitting at home. You can update name, date of birth, address and gender online through Self Service Update Portal (SSUP).

UIDAI has given information about this by tweeting. UIDAI wrote in the tweet – If you want to change your address in Aadhaar, then you can do it through Self Service Update Portal (SSUP). You can update more than one detail at a time with a charge of Rs.50 per application.

Must have registered mobile number

However, one must have his mobile phone number linked with Aadhaar to avail this facility. You will receive OTP for Aadhaar authentication in your registered mobile. If you have not registered your mobile number while enrolling for Aadhaar, you will have to visit a Permanent Enrollment Center to get it registered.

Other Updates

For other updates like head of family or guardian details or biometric updates, you will have to visit the Aadhaar Service Center or Enrollment/Update Center.

Required Documents

If you want to change name, date of birth or address in your Aadhar card then you have to submit scanned copy of each document for verification but no document is required for gender update.

Status update

To track your Aadhaar update status, use this URN and your Aadhaar number on the link-

Service charge

This service is not free. UIDAI will charge you Rs 50 for each update request. The Aadhar card holder can change the name twice in his lifetime while the gender and date of birth can be changed once in the lifetime.
