Sheikh Alam, leader of the ruling Trinamool Congress, has given a controversial statement during the election campaign. He has said that if Muslim voters are on one side then four new Pakistan can be created. Sheikh Alam’s statement before the first round of voting in West Bengal is likely to be captured by the BJP and the possibility of polarization before voting has increased.

Sheikh Alam said, “We are 30 per cent (Muslim) and they are 70 per cent (Hindu). They (BJP) will come to power with 70 percent support, they should be ashamed. If our Muslim population falls on one side then we can create 4 new Pakistan. Where will 70 percent of the population go? ”Sheikh Alam made this controversial statement while addressing the people at Nanur in Basapara in Birbhum Vidhasabha seat.

Amit Malviya, the head of the BJP’s IT cell, has targeted Mamata Banerjee, tweeting Sheikh’s statement. He wrote, “He clearly has his allegiance to Mamata Banerjee.” Does she (Mamata Banerjee) support it? Do we want to see Bengal like this? ”

Significantly, during the last assembly elections, a TMC leader made a similar controversial statement. Mamata government minister Firhad Hakim had called an area called Mini Pakistan, which caused a lot of uproar. He made this statement before the fifth phase of voting.
