Actually, Arun Govil used to smoke cigarettes when he was shooting for the Ramayana serial. At the same time, because of playing the role of Ram, he had to leave this habit. This was told by Arun Govil himself on the show of famous comedian Kapil Sharma. Ramayan serial actors Ram (Arun Govil), Sita (Deepika Chikhaliya) and Laxman (Sunil Lahiri) arrived at Kapil Sharma’s show last year. All these actors reached the show and shared many stories related to the serial Ramayana.

During this, Arun Govil also told about his cigarette smoking habit. Referring to an anecdote, he said, ‘I was shooting in South once. Smoked cigarettes a lot at that time. I was in a corner, putting a chair behind the curtain and smiling silently, when some people came and shouted at me in the South Indian language. Then I told a man on the set of shooting that I feel that this man is abusing me, can you tell me what these people are saying.
Arun Govil further said, “That man told me that you are right that these people are abusing you that we think of you as God and you do this kind of work.” After that day, Arun Govil decided never to smoke cigarettes, because by playing the role of Ram, a moral responsibility has also fallen on his shoulders. Not only this, Arun Govil also told in Kapil’s show that the filmmakers of the Ramayana serial were not able to give him a role in films.

Arun Govil said, ‘I became so famous by playing the role of Ram that the producers did not contact me for other roles. The producers felt that the public would not like to see me in a commercial film.
