Uber Air Taxi: By the end of this year, people in Dubai will be able to ride electric air taxis. It will then be gradually rolled out to the rest of the world.
Uber Air Taxi: Road users face traffic jams every day. Even if you plan ahead, you often end up getting stuck in congested roads and end up getting late. Uber has taken up the task of eliminating these problems and improving your travel experience.
In the future, Uber, one of the largest quick commerce travel platforms, will no longer be limited to ground mobility.
The service will launch first in Dubai.
In an effort to expand its footprint in the quick commerce and travel market, Uber will soon launch a special Uber Air Taxi. This will allow customers to book Joby Aviation’s electric aircraft through its app. Uber will partner with Joby Aviation to provide better services to its customers.
Under the Uber-Joby partnership, you’ll have the opportunity to ride its first electric aircraft in late 2026. It’s planned to be rolled out in several cities around the world. Dubai will be the first city in the world where customers will be able to book Uber-Joby aircraft rides. Following this, the service will expand beyond the Middle East and will be rolled out to New York, Los Angeles, the United Kingdom, and Japan.
Approval Required
Booking an air taxi will be as simple as booking a ride. Opening the app, you’ll see the option to book an air taxi. After entering your destination, air travel will be possible. However, this will require approval from local authorities.
Uber Air Taxis in the UK will require approval from the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA). Joby’s aircraft certification process is in the final stages. Uber has already completed more than 50,000 miles of flight testing across its fleet to provide air-travel convenience to its US customer base.
How to book?
Step 1: If a rider wants to enjoy the convenience of electric air travel, they must first open the application on their mobile phone.
Step 2: In the application, riders will have the option to select a Joby aircraft in certain cities.
Step 3: After selecting the Uber Air Taxi option, you must type in your destination and confirm the booking.
Uber said in a statement, “One tap will easily connect the app and book every part of the journey – including Uber Black pickup and drop-off.” It described it as a futuristic step. Based on the Uber-Joby design, it will resemble an electric vertical take-off and landing (eVTOL) aircraft. Its speed limit will be around 200 mph (321 km/h). The cabin features comfortable seats. The aircraft will be able to carry four passengers at a time.
