UPI Payment Charge: Today UPI is the most popular for digital payments. With its arrival, people’s lives have become much easier. But often these things keep coming up on social media and other platforms that shopkeepers are preparing to charge extra for receiving or making payments through UPI.

Ever since this news has surfaced on social media, it is being made quite viral on social media. However, now the government itself has clearly clarified about this. The Finance Ministry has posted on social media X and written that the government is committed to promoting online payments, but all kinds of rumors should be stopped.

Finance Ministry’s response on UPI

The Finance Ministry further said in its post that an attempt is being made to create panic by spreading such unnecessary panic things. It is worth noting that in June, more transactions have been done through UPI than Visa transactions. In the year 2025, on June 1, the transaction through UPI was 64.4 crores and the next day it crossed 65 crores. However, a year ago, i.e. in the financial year 2025, 64 crore UPI transactions were done.

New UPI payment system

A booklet released on the completion of 11 years of the NDA government led by PM Modi said that India’s digital payment system has been connected to various countries globally. It said that ‘the digital payment revolution in India has attracted the attention of the whole world. In March 2025, 1,830.151 crore UPI transactions worth about Rs 24.77 lakh crore were done on the Unified Payment Interface (UPI).

Out of which about 50 percent are classified as small or extremely small payments. Regarding Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT), the booklet said that the Modi government has effectively used technology and digital tools to ensure transparency and prevent corruption in governance.
