UPI Transactions: Nowadays, almost everyone prefers online payments. Online payments have simplified many tasks, eliminating the hassle of repeatedly visiting ATMs to withdraw cash or the hassle of carrying change. Most people in the country use the Unified Payments Interface (UPI) for payments. In November, UPI was a sensation. According to data from the National Payments Corporation of India (NPCI), 2,047 crore transactions were processed through UPI (Unified Payments Interface) across the country in November, amounting to ₹26.32 lakh crore.

The number of transactions has increased by 32% year-on-year. In November of last year, there were 1,548 crore transactions. The amount transferred has also increased by 22%. In November 2024, transactions worth ₹21.55 lakh crore were processed. In November 2025, an average of 682 million transactions occurred daily, transferring ₹87,721 crore. This trend indicates that India is rapidly moving towards a cashless and digital payments-based economy. Previously, in October 2025, ₹27.28 lakh crore was transferred through 2,071 crore transactions. This is a record for any single month.

IMPS, FASTag, and AePS also saw growth.

1. IMPS transactions were down 10% compared to November 2024, but the amount increased by 10% to ₹6.15 lakh crore.

2. FASTag transactions increased 3% year-on-year to 369 million. Transfer amounts increased 16% to ₹7,046 crore.

3. AePS saw 108 million transactions, transferring ₹28,428 crore. This is a 19% increase year-on-year.

How does UPI work?

You need to create a virtual payment address for the UPI service. Then, link it to your bank account. There’s no need to remember your bank account number, bank name, or IFSC code. The payer simply processes the payment request based on your mobile number. If you have their UPI ID (email ID, mobile number, or Aadhaar number), you can easily send money through your smartphone. Furthermore, you won’t need net banking, credit, or debit cards for bill payments, online shopping, or other purchases. You can do all of these things through the Unified Payment Interface system.
