The Vance couple said in a joint statement, “We are very happy to share the news that Usha is pregnant and we are expecting our fourth child in July. Both Usha and the baby are healthy, and we are all excited to welcome him at the end of July.”
“During this exciting and busy time, we are especially grateful to the military doctors who provide excellent care to our family and to the staff members who go above and beyond to ensure we can serve our country while enjoying a happy family life with our children,” the statement said.

Usha Vance is a lawyer by profession and has served as a law clerk to Chief Justice John G. Roberts of the US Supreme Court and then-Judge Brett Kavanaugh of the Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia Circuit. She earned a bachelor’s degree from Yale University and a master’s degree from Cambridge University, where she was a Gates Cambridge Scholar.

Usha Vance’s parents, Krishna Chilukuri and Lakshmi Chilukuri, emigrated to the United States from India in the late 1970s. According to the university’s website, Krishna Chilukuri is a lecturer in the Aerospace Department of the College of Engineering at San Diego State University, while Lakshmi Chilukuri is a professor in the Department of Molecular Biology and Provost of Sixth College at the University of California, San Diego.
