A warning of heavy rain has been issued in Uttarakhand on Sunday and Monday. The Meteorological Department has issued a red alert of rain. In view of the possibility of rain, it has been announced to keep all the schools closed on October 18 in Uttarkashi district. This information has been given by District Officer Mayur Dixit. According to the Meteorological Department, there may be heavy rain at some places in the hilly districts. At the same time, a warning of snowfall has also been issued in places above 3500 meters.




The Dehradun Meteorological Center had on Sunday expressed the possibility of strong wind accompanied by heavy rain in the hilly areas. Director of the Meteorological Center Vikram Singh said that in the mountainous places, winds can move at a speed of 60 to 70 km per hour. On October 18, the possibility of heavy rain has also been expressed in many places including Uttarakhand, Pithoragarh, Chamoli, Bageshwar, Champawat, Almora. A red alert of heavy rain has also been issued in Haridwar and Udham Singh Nagar.

Danger of landslides due to rain

Due to heavy rains, the risk of landslides has increased significantly. Due to the strong flow of rivers, people have been advised not to move. Along with this, people living in coastal areas have also been advised to take precautions. On October 19, due to the lesser effect of Western Disturbance, the chances of rain are being expressed less. However, there is a possibility of heavy rain at many places in Chamoli, Pithoragarh, Bageshwar districts.

Chance of increasing winter due to rain

DM Dr R Rajesh Kumar has instructed all the departmental officers related to disaster management to remain alert. Apart from this, according to meteorologist Senior Meteorologist Vikram Singh, with heavy rain from the mountains to the plain areas, suddenly the mercury will rise rapidly and the cold will knock. However, for the past several days, the minimum temperature in the night is less than 20 degrees Celsius and due to rain, there is a possibility of further drop in the mercury.
