Amidst the wedding festivities in Chhindwara, Madhya Pradesh, an incident unfolded that left everyone completely stunned. The groom had arrived at the bride’s home with his wedding procession, full of hopes and dreams. The procession was welcomed with music and fanfare, and the groom took his place on the *Jaimala* (garland exchange) stage, awaiting the bride. The bride, too—fully decked out in her wedding finery and holding her garland—walked up to the stage; however, what happened in the very next moment was something no one could have ever imagined. The bride suddenly jumped off the stage, ran away, and placed her garland around the neck of her boyfriend instead.
**Embraced Her Lover and Placed the Garland Around His Neck**
This entire incident reportedly took place on the night of April 27–28 in Mujawar village, within the jurisdiction of the Umreth police station. Upon the arrival of the wedding procession, both families performed the traditional rituals. The groom was welcomed, and preparations for the *Jaimala* ceremony began. It was during this time that the bride ascended the stage; however, instead of garlanding the groom, she placed the wedding garland around the neck of her lover. Furthermore, she went on to embrace her lover right there in front of everyone.
Groom Refuses to Marry; Lover Beaten Up
Guests present at the ceremony were left stunned by the unfolding scene. In a matter of moments, the atmosphere shifted, and an enraged crowd proceeded to beat up the lover. Following the incident, the groom immediately refused to go ahead with the wedding. He then retrieved the gifts he had brought along and returned home with the wedding procession—without the bride.
Groom’s Family Files Complaint at Police Station
It is reported that the young woman had previously informed her family about her romantic relationship and expressed her desire to marry her boyfriend; however, her family members disregarded her wishes and arranged her marriage elsewhere. Yielding to family pressure, the young woman initially consented to the marriage, but at the moment of the *Jaimala* (garland exchange) ceremony, she followed her heart. Following the incident, the groom’s side has lodged a complaint at the Umreth police station. The groom’s family alleges that the bride’s family concealed the truth while arranging the match, thereby causing damage to their social reputation. The family is now preparing to initiate legal action in this matter.
