Delhiites can expect some respite from the heat as the IMD has predicted very light rain and thundershowers at one or two places during the night of Thursday and Friday.
Delhi on Tuesday reeled under scorching heat with the maximum temperature soaring to 41.8 degrees Celsius, two notches above the season’s average.
The relative humidity oscillated between 39 per cent and 53 per cent, according to the India Meteorological Department (IMD).
Strong surface winds also prevailed in parts of the city.
Earlier, the weather department had predicted that Delhi is likely to witness hotter days with clear skies and dry weather over the next few days.
The national capital, on Monday too, had recorded a maximum temperature above the 40 degrees Celsius mark.
Meanwhile, in view of soaring temperatures across the country, health experts have cautioned people to take proper care to prevent illnesses caused by extreme heat.
According to the seven-day forecast by the Regional Meteorological Centre (RMC), Delhi is likely to witness a partly cloudy sky with strong surface winds during the day on Wednesday. In the next few days, the maximum and minimum temperatures will hover around 38 and 28 degrees Celsius respectively.
LIGHT RAIN LIKELY
Amid the scorching heatwave, Delhiites can expect some respite as the weather department, in its latest bulletin, predicted very light rain and thundershowers at one or two places during the night on Thursday and Friday. The said weather conditions are likely due to the influence of Cyclone Biparjoy, which is gaining steam in the Arabian Sea.
