During this period, there is a possibility of 40 percent normal monsoon, 30 percent more than normal and 10 percent very high. In this way, there is an 80 percent chance that there can be normal or more rain between June and September. The possibility of it being less than normal is 15 percent and the possibility of drought is only five percent.
There may be slightly less than normal (165.3 mm) 158.7 mm rainfall in June, more than normal (280.5 mm) 286.1 mm rainfall in July, more than normal (254.9 mm) 275.3 mm rainfall in August and more than normal (167.9 mm) 174.6 mm rainfall in September. Central and Western India may receive more than normal rainfall between June and September.
Rainfall likely to decrease in these states
Assam, Arunachal Pradesh and Jammu and Kashmir are likely to receive less than normal rainfall. Rest of the states are likely to receive normal rainfall. If we look at the month-wise forecast, Kerala, Karnataka, Konkan and Goa will receive more rainfall in June. Central India may also receive normal rainfall. Monsoon is likely to reach North India by the end of June.
Western India will receive very heavy rainfall in July. Central and eastern states are likely to receive more than normal rainfall in August. North and South India may receive normal rainfall in August. West and central India may receive more rain in September. Tamil Nadu, coastal areas of Andhra Pradesh, Konkan and South Gujarat are likely to receive below normal rainfall.
