What is challan 280, and how to use income tax payment online,here know ?

Challan 280 With the help of challan 280, you can file tax on the Income Tax website. You will not need to depend on a chartered accountant or any other source for tax filing work.

Those who pay income tax should be aware of Challan 280. Challan 280 is a type of form that is available on the official website of Income Tax. If you want to pay income tax online then you can fill this form. This challan can be filled online or you can take a print of the form and fill it offline. This form is filled to pay tax.




Challan 280 With the help of challan 280, you can file tax on the Income Tax website. You will not need to depend on a chartered accountant or any other source for tax filing work. Fill all the information asked in this form carefully and submit it online or offline. To submit the offline form, you have to go to the bank from where your income tax will be deposited.

How to make tax payment from Challan 280

  • First of all visit NSDL website https://www.tin-nsdl.com/
  • Here on the main page click on the services tab to get the drop down list
  • The option of e-payment: pay taxes online will appear in the drop down menu which has to be selected
  • With this you will go to the e-payment of taxes page. In this you will see a box written pay taxes online. Here you have to click on click to pay tax online. Then go to the e-payment of taxes page
  • Here you will see challan no./ITNS 280 written which has to be selected. After that press the proceed button
  • On the next page you can see the invoice. In this, information like amount of tax, PAN and assessment year will have to be filled.
  • For income tax payment (0021) select Income Tax (Other than Companies). There is also a separate option for companies that have to pay corporate tax.
  • Now select the type of payment in which you will get Advance Tax, Surtax, Tax on Distributed Profit, Tax on Distributed Income, Self Assessment Tax etc. Select the tax you want to pay
  • Now select the payment mode. If you want, you can choose the payment mode by net banking or debit card. After selecting it, click on the bank from which tax is to be deducted
  • Go to the drop down box and fill the details of PAN and assessment year
  • In the next step, you will have to enter your address, district, state, pin code, email id and mobile number.
  • A captcha code will appear on the screen which has to be filled in the box next to it
  • Now click on the proceed button which will take you to the e-payment page. Pay tax here according to your liability

After this, you must take some proof to show that you have deposited the tax. As soon as the tax money is paid, a challan paper is prepared separately. Challan Identification Number or CIN is recorded on this document. Also, the date of tax payment, the details of how much money was paid are given. The CIN is issued as an acknowledgment based on the amount of tax you have paid. Keep the CIN safe for further reference. It will be needed when you submit income tax return income tax return. After paying the tax, the acknowledgment of the challan can also be taken from the bank from which the tax has been paid.
