YouTube users across the world will now be able to use other apps in the background by playing YouTube videos on a small screen. Actually, till now this feature was available only to users who had subscribed to YouTube Premium or users living in America. But now this feature has been rolled out for YouTube users across the world. This means that now you will be able to watch YouTube videos on a small screen for free even without premium. This has been brought for both Android and iOS apps.
Everyone will be able to use it for free
It’s worth noting that picture-in-picture mode was previously only available for premium accounts, but Google made it available for free to Android and iOS users in the US. The company has now rolled out this feature to all YouTube users worldwide.
But this is the condition
According to a report by 9to5Google, Picture-in-Picture (PiP) mode on YouTube is now free for all users. Users no longer need to pay to use it. However, there’s one caveat: it can only be used for “longer, non-music content.”
How to use the feature?
- If you’ve never used PiP before, it’s very easy to turn it on.
- All you need to do is go to the Advanced settings of the YouTube app.
- Then search for PiP and enable it. Once it’s on, you can start watching videos as normal.
- When you minimize the app or go back, the video will continue playing in a small window on your screen. You can resize the video player as you please, or even close it if you don’t need it.
