Rupees 500 Note: Is the government going to ban 500 rupee notes from the year 2026? Such news was on social media for many days. Actually, in a YouTube video, it has been claimed that the government is going to ban 500 rupee notes from March 2026. This video has gone viral on social media and so far more than 4.5 lakh people have seen it. However, regarding this claim, the Press Information Bureau (PIB) on behalf of the Government of India has clearly said that this claim is completely false.

Will 500 rupee notes be out of circulation?

PIB issued a statement stating that no announcement has been made by the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) regarding the ban of ₹ 500 notes. These notes are completely valid and will remain in circulation. It was said in the viral video that RBI will gradually start removing 500 rupee notes from 2026. But PIB called it a rumour and said that RBI has not issued any such policy or directive. PIB has appealed to the general public not to trust such false claims and also not to share them on social media.

What to do?

Check the veracity of any news before sharing it.

Trust only information received from government or official sources.

Report fake news that is going viral.

There is no need to panic about any decision related to the government, unless there is an official confirmation. Such false information spreads unnecessary fear and confusion among people. Therefore, do not believe or spread anything without knowing the truth.
