The Jharkhand government on Tuesday approved a seven percent increase in DA (Dearness Allowance) of its employees. An official said that this increase will be effective from July 1 last year. Under the Sixth Central Pay Commission, employees will get 246 percent DA of the current basic salary, which was 239 percent earlier. 12 proposals were agreed upon in the cabinet meeting chaired by Chief Minister Hemant Soren on Tuesday.
During the cabinet meeting chaired by Chief Minister Hemant Soren, the proposal to increase the DA of employees was approved. The Hemant Soren government also increased the Dearness Relief (DR) given to pensioners under the Sixth Pay Commission by 7 per cent to 246 per cent.
Joint Cabinet Secretary Rajiv Ranjan said that DA for government employees coming under the 5th Pay Commission has also been increased from the current 443 per cent to 455 per cent, which will be effective from July 1, 2024.
The Cabinet approved the formation of the Jharkhand Micro, Small and Medium Units (MSME) Special Exemption Bill-2025. After the passage of the bill, trade licenses or licenses related to company operators will not have to be taken for three years to promote micro, small and medium unit industries in the state.
The company will be able to operate with the consent of the Department of Industries. The Cabinet has approved the formation of the bill with the aim of promoting MSMEs in the state. At the same time, the dearness allowance of the employees working in the fifth and sixth unrevised pay scales in the state and the pensioners under the sixth pay scale has been increased from July 1, 2024.
Giving information after the cabinet meeting, Rajiv Kumar, Additional Secretary, Cabinet, Monitoring and Secretariat Department, said that the dearness allowance of employees working on the sixth pay scale, pensioners, family pensioners has been increased from 239 percent to 246 percent. At the same time, the dearness allowance of the state employees working on the fifth pay scale has also been increased from 443 percent to 455 percent.
The cabinet has also decided to amend the Factories Act 1948 under the ease of doing business. Now, women workers can be employed in factories in the state from 7 pm to 6 am with their consent.
