The Indian Army has made a new rule regarding the permanent appointment of Agniveers, under which a candidate will be out of selection if he gets married before permanent appointment.
Agniveers New rules: Millions of young men recruited into the Army under the Agniveer Scheme have a single dream: to become permanent soldiers in the Indian Army after four years of service. Now, for such young men, the Indian Army has issued a new and important rule, which every Agniveer must understand. This rule directly relates to their personal lives, as it provides clear guidelines regarding marriage.
Regarding the process of permanent service for Agniveers, the Indian Army has determined that Agniveers who aspire to become permanent soldiers cannot marry until they receive a permanent appointment in the Army. If an Agniveer marries during this process or before becoming a permanent soldier, they will be disqualified for permanent service. Such Agniveers will neither be able to apply for permanent service nor participate in the selection process.
With the introduction of this new rule, many questions have arisen among Agniveers. The biggest question is when can they get married so that they can fulfill their dream of becoming a permanent soldier and also progress in their personal life. The Army has clarified this matter.
Must Abstain from Marriage
According to the new rule, Agniveers can only marry after they are appointed as permanent soldiers in the Indian Army. This means they must abstain from marriage until the final results of their permanent appointment are known. However, this won’t be a long wait. After completing their four years of service, Agniveers will have to wait approximately four to six months for the entire permanentization process to be completed.
When did it begin?
The Agniveer Scheme was launched in 2022. The first batch recruited under this scheme is now completing their four-year service. The 2022 batch of Agniveers will complete their service period around June and July 2026. It is estimated that the first batch included approximately 20,000 young men, who are now retiring.
Of all these Agniveers, approximately 25 percent will have the opportunity to become permanent soldiers in the Indian Army. Selection will be based on physical fitness, written examination, and other criteria. The selection process will be based entirely on merit and performance. Those Agniveers who succeed in this process will be granted permanent appointments in the Army.
However, the process of becoming a permanent soldier doesn’t end immediately upon completion of service. Agniveers must apply for this, followed by the entire selection process. This process typically lasts 4 to 6 months. Meanwhile, the Army has made it clear that no Agniveer should marry until the final list is released.
When will the exemption be granted?
According to reports, the Army states that if an Agniveer marries during this period, they will be disqualified from the race to become a permanent soldier. Such a candidate’s application will not be accepted, regardless of their qualifications. Therefore, Agniveers have been advised to understand and adhere to this rule seriously.
Agniveers who are selected as permanent soldiers will have complete freedom to marry after their appointment. Once they have permanently joined the Army, they can marry at any time of their convenience and choice. This restriction will no longer apply to them at that time.
