Airport Close: Flight operations at the airport in India’s financial capital Mumbai will be closed for six hours on May 8. Actually, flying operations at Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport will be closed due to a special reason. MIAL, associated with airport operations, said that this will be done due to maintenance of the runway before the onset of monsoon. Mumbai International Airport Limited (MIAL) also said that a notice was issued to the airmen 6 months ago to inform all the airport staff including airlines companies about this.
The private sector operator said that the pre-monsoon maintenance work on both runways – 09/27 and 14/32 will run from 11 am to 5 pm on May 8.
Officials said that this annual pre-monsoon maintenance is very important to keep the basic infrastructure of the airport strong. MIAL said that experts will inspect the runway surface and take measures to prevent waterlogging to ensure safe landing and take-off during the monsoon season.
