Airport will remain closed at this time

Thiruvananthapuram International Airport Limited (TIAL) gave this information on Wednesday. He said that the flight service will be suspended from 4 pm to 9 pm on April 21.

Airport is closed twice every year

According to TIAL, the updated flight timings of the planes have been made available to the concerned aviation companies. The airport has been halting flight operations twice every year for decades and changing their schedules so that the age-old traditional pilgrimage to the temple, which is undertaken twice a year, does not face any hindrance in passing through the airstrip.

Tradition continues since 1932

The use of the airstrip to transport the idols to the Shangumugham beach for bathing in the yatra began centuries ago and the tradition continues since the establishment of the airport in 1932.
