Alert ! Facebook and Instagram will be closed, Meta is upset, know what is the reason

It is becoming increasingly difficult for Mark Zuckerberg’s company Meta to work in Europe. If reports are to be believed, the company may shut down its services like Facebook and Instagram in Europe. Know what is the reason.

Challenges are increasing for Meta in Europe, after which the company may shut down some of its services there. According to reports, Meta has told in its annual report that if the company does not get the option to transfer, store and process data of its European users on US-based servers, then services like Facebook and Instagram may have to be closed in Europe.

At present, strict measures are being taken regarding data transfer in Europe. Till now companies were getting the option of data transfer through Privacy Shield and other model agreements. Meta was storing data of European users on US servers with the help of these, but this law has been invalidated in the past.

What is the problem with Meta?

According to media reports, in its latest report to the US Securities and Exchange Commission, Meta has told that if a new framework is not developed or they are not allowed to use the existing model, then the company will not be able to provide services like Facebook and Instagram in Europe.

Previously, companies were using the Privacy Shield Act to transfer European data to US servers. However, in July 2020, the European Court canceled it.

In addition to Privacy Shield, Meta is using Standard Contractual Clauses to store European users’ data on US servers, but these model agreements are also under scrutiny in many other parts of Europe, including Brussels.

What did Meta say?

City A.M. According to the report, John Nolan, the London-based tech media and advertising communications leader of Meta, has not dismissed these reports. He shared a statement from one Meta’s VP of Global Affairs and Communications, Nick Clegg.

Nick has said that businesses need clear, global regulations, based on strong legislation, to protect trans-Atlantic data flows over the long term.
