PNB Bank Alert: Punjab National Bank has also shared this information with its account holders through social media and has warned of account closure after April 15.
PNB Bank Alert: Do you also have an account with Punjab National Bank (PNB Bank)? Then this news is special for you, as PNB has issued an alert for account holders who have not had any transactions in their accounts for the past three years. The bank has warned such customers that if necessary steps are not taken, their accounts will be closed after April 15, 2026.
Zero Balance in Account, Be Alert
According to the official information issued by Punjab National Bank, this deactivation action will only apply to accounts that have been inactive for the past three years and currently have a zero balance. The bank has also shared information in this regard through a post on the social media platform Twitter (now X) and has appealed to activate such accounts.
In addition to issuing the warning, PNB has advised such account holders to reactivate their accounts by the deadline of April 15. For this, you can go to the nearest PNB branch and complete Know Your Customer (KYC).
The social media post clarified that if the account is not activated by this deadline, it will be closed the next day, i.e., April 16th, or thereafter, without any alert. Completing a simple KYC update or resuming transactions can prevent account closure.

Why did the bank have to take this decision?
Punjab National Bank clarified that this action is aimed at reducing the risk associated with inactive accounts. Banks are closely monitoring such inactive or current accounts without balances and transactions due to the risk of fraud. Periodic KYC updates are part of banking regulations.
The bank has stated that customers who are unable to accurately verify their bank account status should contact their bank branch immediately and do so as soon as possible, especially those who have not used their accounts in a few years.
It is worth noting that Punjab National Bank is one of the largest banks in the country, with a market capitalization of ₹1.30 lakh crore. PNB shares, listed on the stock exchange, rose nearly 1% on Wednesday to close at ₹113.10.
