If you also live in the village, then you can get the 2000 rupee note changed even without going to the bank. RBI has told that a bank account holder can exchange 2 notes of Rs 2000 i.e. notes up to Rs 4000 by visiting the Business Correspondent Center.

Central bank gave this information

The central bank has asked people to visit banks to deposit Rs 2,000 notes in their accounts or exchange them for notes of other denominations. Apart from this, the facility of changing Rs 2,000 notes will also be given in 19 regional offices of RBI. People can exchange notes from May 23 to September 30 by visiting any bank branch. 19 regional offices of RBI will also be given the facility to exchange Rs 2,000 notes. RBI has regional offices at 31 places across the country.
