Family Pension for PSB Employees: Giving a big relief to the bank employees, the government on Wednesday announced an increase in their family pension. The government talked about increasing it to 30 percent of the last salary drawn by the bank employee.

Family pension of bank employees increased


Debasish Panda, Secretary, Department of Financial Services, admitted that the family of bank employees gets very little pension (Family Pension for PSB Employees).

Panda told that the family of a deceased government bank employee used to get a maximum pension of Rs 9,284 per month. The government has completely removed this cap. Now they will get pension according to a uniform slab of 30 percent on the last salary drawn by the employee.

Panda said that after this decision, the pension to the families of bank employees will increase from Rs 30,000 to Rs 35,000 thousand per month.

Benefit will also be available in NPS


Along with this, the ministry has decided to increase the employer’s contribution in the New Pension Scheme (NPS) from the existing 10 per cent to 14 per cent.

Earlier, Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman expressed satisfaction over the performance of public sector banks in the last few years and appreciated that they have come out of the Prompt Corrective Action Framework of RBI.

Panda said more than a dozen state-run banks are performing well and have started giving profits, thereby increasing the confidence of investors and making them self-reliant to raise capital.
