It will be cloudy on 23rd and 24th October, there may be light rain
According to the Meteorological Department, the wind speed was up to 12 kmph on Thursday. Along with the northwest wind, the coolness of snowfall on the mountains is also reaching Delhi. Meanwhile, under the influence of a Western Disturbance, it will be cloudy on 23rd and 24th October. Light to moderate rain is also possible. A yellow alert has also been issued for Sunday.
The first cold of the season occurred on Thursday
Earlier on Thursday morning, Delhi felt a good cold for the first time in this season. Those going for walks in the park felt especially cold. However, the day was sunny and the sky remained clear throughout the day. The maximum temperature was 32.4 degrees Celsius at the normal level, while the minimum temperature was recorded at 16.0 degrees Celsius, two notches below the normal. The humidity level in the air was 31 to 92 percent.
AQI may increase in next few days
Due to the strong wind on Thursday, the cold in Delhi increased. The minimum temperature dropped to 16 degrees. There was also a partial improvement in pollution when the wind was blowing. The air index declined from the poor category to the medium category. This brought great relief to Delhiites. However, the air quality remained poor in NCR cities. The air index of Delhi is also likely to rise again during the next two days.
Stubble started burning in Haryana and Punjab
On the other hand, according to the Air Quality Bulletin issued by the Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB), Delhi’s air index on Thursday was recorded at 199 i.e. in the medium category. The PM 2.5 level stood at 82 micrograms per cubic metre. In NCR, Faridabad’s air index was 203, Ghaziabad 262, Greater Noida 220, Gurugram 215 and Noida 209 in the poor category. According to Safar India, 1234 incidents of stubble burning have been reported in Punjab and Haryana in the last 24 hours. Due to this, the share of stubble smoke in Delhi’s pollution on Wednesday was 15 percent. But there was some relief due to strong wind. The forecast of SAFAR is that the level of pollution is likely to increase for the next two days.
