Mass Layoffs: In contrast to the layoffs, Meta has said in an internal memo sent to its employees that the company is going to speed up the process of recruiting machine learning engineers.
Meta recently announced that it will lay off 5% of the company’s “lowest performers”. That is, employees whose performance has not been up to expectations may be affected by this layoff.
In which countries will the layoffs take place?
According to the report, the layoff process will start at 5 am on Monday (local time) in many countries including the US. However, there will be no layoffs in countries like Germany, France, Italy and the Netherlands, because the local labor laws there do not allow it to be implemented. At the same time, notices will be sent to employees between February 11 and February 18 in many countries of Europe, Asia and Africa.
New engineers will be recruited
Despite the layoffs, Meta has said in an internal memo sent to its employees that the company is going to speed up the process of recruiting machine learning engineers. Peng Fan, vice president of the monetization team, appealed to the employees to cooperate in new recruitments, so that the company can move forward according to its 2025 priorities.
This time the layoff process will be different. The company has said that during this time the offices will remain open and no updates will be given as before. That is, the affected employees will be sent a notice directly and the company will not respond much to it.
