The Center had said that under the changed procurement plan from June 21, the vaccine would be procured on the basis of revised prices. At the same time, till 10 pm on Friday night, about 40 crore doses have been applied across the country.
In order to overcome the shortage of vaccine in some parts of the country, the Central Government has given a new order for the vaccine. The supply of the vaccine is expected between August and December. In this order, 375 crore doses are of Coveshield while 285 crore are of Covaccine. About 22 crore doses will be given to private hospitals. At the same time, according to official sources, these new orders have been placed on the revised prices of the vaccine, in which Rs 215 will be paid for Covishield and Rs 225 per dose for Covaccine.
According to the report of Times of India , we are soon on the way to put 50 crore doses every day. This is very important to fulfill our goal. About 40 crore doses have been administered across the country till 10 pm on Friday night. The central government had indicated the availability of 13.5 crore doses for July. The Center was earlier procuring the vaccine at Rs 150 per dose basis. It was indicated by the government that it would revise the prices of the vaccine after the implementation of the changed procurement plan from June 21.
Need to increase production
Lav Agarwal, Joint Secretary, Ministry of Health said that while we appreciate the concern of the states to get more vaccine doses, then we should also appreciate how the Government of India is increasing the production. The government is ensuring that maximum vaccine doses are made available to the states and union territories. The Union Health Ministry had said in an affidavit given in the country’s top court on June 25 that by December, 1.35 billion vaccine doses would be available every month in the country, which would be sufficient for the adult population.
