DA Hike: The central government has given great news to millions of its employees during the festive season. The government has not only increased dearness allowance (DA) but also announced a Diwali bonus for Group B and C employees. This means that employees’ salaries will include the increased DA, arrears, and Diwali bonus. Employees will receive a triple benefit.
3 Percentage Increase in DA
The central government has increased employees’ DA from 55% to 58%. This revision will be effective from July 1, 2025. This means that employees will also receive arrears from July to September in their October salary. This will result in a significant salary increase during the festive season.
The government increases DA twice every year. First, in March, and secondly, around the festive season. It also provides a Diwali bonus in October. This year, the DA was increased by 2% in March, and now it has been increased by 3%. The government has increased the DA for government employees by 5% in a year. If an employee’s basic salary is ₹18,000, then they will receive approximately ₹1,620 in arrears for three months at 3%.
Diwali Bonus for Group B and C Employees
The Central Government has announced a bonus equivalent to 30 days’ salary for its Group C and non-gazetted Group B employees. This amount will be given along with their October salary. The government says this step is taken to recognize the employees’ hard work and enhance the joy of the holidays.
Railway Employees Receive Biggest Bonus
This year, Diwali has been very special for railway employees as well. The central government had announced a Productivity Linked Bonus (PLB) equivalent to 78 days’ salary. This amount was released before Dussehra, giving employees a maximum bonus of ₹17,951.
How much will the DA increase increase salaries?
The impact of the DA increase will be felt at all levels. The highest-ranking secretary-level officers, with a basic salary of ₹225,000, have received a salary increase of approximately ₹6,750. Meanwhile, the lowest-level employees, such as peons, with a basic salary of ₹18,000, have received a salary increase of ₹540.
