The Ministry of Labor and Employment has revised the rates of Dearness Allowance for industrial workers based on Average Consumer Price Index. Along with this, an increase of 7.39 points has been recorded in the rate of Variable Dearness Allowance.

Revised dearness allowance will be payable from October 1, 2023. Dearness allowance rate for workers working above ground

For unskilled workers working above ground, dearness allowance has been fixed at Rs 154, while for semi-skilled workers the rate of dearness allowance has been fixed at Rs 151 per day and for skilled and clerical workers, dearness allowance has been fixed at Rs 228. The rate of dearness allowance per day for highly skilled workers has been fixed at Rs 265.

Dearness allowance rate for underground workers

For unskilled employees working underground, the dearness allowance has been fixed at Rs 191, while for semi-skilled employees the rate of dearness allowance has been fixed at Rs 228 per day. The rate of dearness allowance for skilled and clerical workers has been fixed at Rs 265 per day, while the rate of dearness allowance for highly skilled workers has been fixed at Rs 295 per day.

In such a situation, the revised VDA basic rate and variable dearness allowance on the minimum wage of mine workers will be as follows from October 1: –

  • For highly skilled employees working above ground, they will be paid Rs 875 per day on the basis of basic salary Rs 610 + Rs 265 variable dearness allowance.

Salaries and dearness allowances of employees working underground

  • For unskilled workers working underground, they will be paid Rs 628 per day on the basis of basic salary 437 + 191 variable dearness allowance.
  • For semi-skilled workers working below ground, unskilled supervisor, they will be paid Rs 751 per day on the basis of basic salary 523 + 228 variable dearness allowance.
  • For skilled, clerical employees working underground, they will be paid Rs 875 per day on the basis of basic pay Rs 610 + Rs 265 variable dearness allowance.
  • For highly skilled workers working underground, they will be paid Rs 978 per day on the basis of basic salary 683 + 295 variable dearness allowance.
