Income tax return filing has become easier now. You can also file ITR at your nearest post office. Indian Postal Department has started this new service for the convenience of the taxpayers. The Department of Posts is offering an option to file Income Tax Return (ITR) at its Common Service Center (CSC) counters, which is good news for lakhs of salaried taxpayers across the country. Giving this information on Twitter, India Post said that taxpayers can easily access ITR services at the nearest post office CSC counter.



It is worth noting that the CSC counters of post offices across India act as a single rich point for Indian citizens to avail multiple financial services like postal, banking and insurance services. Along with this people can also get many other government benefits and information through CSC counters. The government also provides several other e-services to Indian citizens through these CSC centers located at the local post office to ensure that people can avail the benefits under the Digital India programme. Now with the introduction of the new facility of filing income tax returns, people living in small towns and villages will get a big relief.

Till now most of the people take help of tax expert or CA for filing income tax return. However, the help of CAs or tax experts is not easily available in villages and towns. Many people file ITR online themselves, but there is a fear of technical glitches related to tax in it. In such a situation, filing ITR for the people of small towns is not less than a difficult task. They will get great convenience if the service starts not in the post office. They will be able to fill their returns easily.

You have also given the help of Income Tax Department website for filing ITR. The Income Tax Department has recently launched a new website for the convenience of the taxpayers. For the convenience of the taxpayers, several knowledge packs have been included in the new website, with the help of which you can also file your return yourself. In case of mistake, you can also rectify it by taking help from the consumer officer.

The Central Board of Direct Taxes (CBDT) has extended the due date for submission of tax returns from July 31 to September 30, 2021. Giving relief to taxpayers, the central government has extended the deadline for filing income tax returns. Individual income tax returns for the year 2020-21 can be submitted by 30 September. If your total annual income is more than Rs 2.50 lakh in a financial year, then it is necessary to file income tax return. If income from job, business or profession exceeds the tax exemption limit, then it is necessary for you to file income tax return.
